About The Song
Vitiligo Song has been written for World Vitiligo Day 2021.
It is a collaboration between Charlie Frances and Little Strings for The Vitiligo Society, with contributions from a number of wonderful people from the Vitiligo community.
We wanted to create something positive and uplifting, that celebrated our unique and beautiful condition but also acknowledged that not every day is a good day.
We can’t thank all of our contributors enough. Thank you for trusting us with your words and your stories. We hope you appreciate the song when it is out and that you take something from it. Vitiligo song is really special to us and has made this month an emotional one!
All proceeds are going to The Vitiligo Society, who aim to eradicate the psychological, social and physical effects that vitiligo has on people’s lives

INTRO
‘Vitiligo’ - repeated by a number of participants
I love to be unique
There is no ‘one right way’ to heal
Vitiligo x2
Well, I used to feel, anywhere from indifferent
To uncomfortable with my vitiligo,
Now I feel proud of my difference.
I have a long to go before until I finally embrace my beauty.
And it’s very difficult to embrace this change
Vitiligo is a blessing for me
I started to get stronger
With every patch that appeared
My skin’s cool!
VERSE 1
Beautiful skin
Telling its beautiful story
Constantly changing
Forever evolving
I take good care of you
As you breathe through my skin
PRE-CHORUS
Searching for answers
My skin is changing, did I do something wrong?
Reaching out for a cure
A face I don’t like seeing in the mirror
If you could take it all back, would you?
Vitiligo is no more my weakness,
But it’s my strength
If you could take it all back, would I want that?
I found a patch and then another
I look at the other side
And found its sister and brother
CHORUS
My body is a canvas
Feel proud of my difference
I’m my own brand of unique
My marks are a tapestry
Telling my own story
My signature, my identity
You’re my body
And I’m trying my best to love you
I started to get stronger
With every patch that appeared
Trying my best to love you
I have a long to go before until I finally embrace my beauty.
Trying my best to love you
The beautiful work of art
VERSE 2
My dappled hands are capable
And I am grateful
I have learnt to
Thank my body
Every single day
All my body was trying to do
Was protect me
I may never accept this
But I can love me
PRE-CHORUS
Painted me in pigment
I’ve had vitiligo since I was four years old
Trying your best to keep me safe
Does it take your breath away?
It takes my breath away
When I see it spreading
Could I learn to love you?
Now, I’m stronger than ever
CHORUS
My body is a canvas
Feel proud of my difference
I’m my own brand of unique
My marks are a tapestry
Telling my own story
My signature, my identity
You’re my body
And I’m trying my best to love you
I love to be unique
Trying my best to love you
This vitiligo makes me feel special
Trying my best to love you
Unique and more confident everyday
OUTRO
Some days you love how you look
And some day you don’t
Some days, it’s easy to be around people
And some days it isn’t
It’s okay to be okay with your vitiligo
And it’s okay not to be okay with your vitiligo,
It’s something that everyone deals with
In their own way, in their own time
There is no ‘one right way’ to heal
Just know that there’s a community out there
Of people that wanna support
And empower you on your journey.
I am beautiful.
